Vintage Aircraft Club Daffodil Fly-In 2011Photographer: Stuart MacConnacher Dates: 16th April Location: Fenland The Vintage Aircraft Club Daffodil Fly-In 16th April 2011 at Fenland It was another good day and very warm for the time of year. As with all events at Fenland the challenging part for most visitors is finding the airfield in the Fens! The conditions were hazy to add to the difficulties of finding the place but as the day progressed the number of visitors helped to make Fenland more visible from the air. There was a danger of overwhelming the limited parking space available and the VAC team had to double park which is not the photographers favourite situation. As usual the team at Fenland made everyone welcome and the food was excellent. It was a good day and a Fly-In with the level of informality that most visitors appreciated. The arrival of two nicely built/restored Currie Wots was icing on the cake. One was an early example of the breed; G-ASBA built by the late Bert Etheridge an ex DH worker and Shuttleworth chippie which Bert modified with a DH styled tail. Hopefully more classic homebuilts will come to the next VAC event the joint Leicestershire Aero Club /VAC Classic Homebuilt Aircraft Fly-In at Leicester on the 26th June.
