Devon Strut South West Regional Fly-In August 2010

The Devon Strut South West Regional Fly In took place with a poor forecast for the Saturday 14th of August and only five visitors by air made it including Mike Welsh and Martin Harbour who actually arrived on the Friday night. The Saturday entertainment in the club house saw those of us in attendance almost outnumbered by the band. The hog roast was excellent but I suspect that pork baps became the staple diet of Dunkeswell visitors over following week.
Sunday promised to be better but we woke up to a heavy mist across the aerodrome. By 09:00 it started to lift and got better as the day progressed. From 11:00 a steady stream of visitors arrived and the hard work of the Devon Strut paid off. Jim Gale, Mike Mold and Peter Gristwood and the others had put a lot of effort into making a great fly-in that gave access to all visitors but the lack of aircraft and their crews on the Saturday to help eat the food laid on was a concern and no doubt cost the Strut.
If the weather had been kinder this would have been a great event in the tradition of the Devon Strut.
