Devon Strut South West Regional Fly-In 2011Photographer: Stuart MacConnacher Dates: 13th and 14th August 2011 Location: Dunkeswell Devon UK The Devon Strut's South West Regional Fly-In took place in less than ideal conditions over the weekend of 13th and 14th of August 2011.Friday evening's barbeque for visitors and the Devon Strut working crew was memorable in the size of the burgers being cooked. Saturday the weather was less than ideal with low cloud which kept the numbers down though some made valiant efforts to arrive including Bill Dobie who struggled down from north of Bristol in his Turbulent G-ASFX with an Airplast prop on its VW engine ; a rare combination. This won Bill the most meritorious arrival award for the weekend. One of the highlights of the day was a flypast of the Fleet Air Arm Historic Flight Swordfish on its way home from a display. The other was the test flight by Dave Silsbury on the recently constructed Sequoia Falco G-RJAM . On Sunday the weather slowly improved during the day and the number of visitors with it enabling some to arrive from Kent and Nottingham. Just after I left by road home the Battle of Britain Flight did a fly by and a Cessna BirdDog arrived. Stuart MacConnacher LogEvent |
